Growing old is optional?????

When I was 10, I thought that 20 was old and 50 was ready for death.
When I was 20, I realised that some people managed to live into their nineties but I still thought that 40 was quite old.
As I passed each of the milestones, I tried to work out why my Mother and Grandmother seemed to be so old, at the same age.  The answer is obvious, of course......  I was always  22 and 44 years younger than they were and naturally I felt younger.

Now, the unthinkable has happened!!   I was 68 last week.  That's nearly 70.  70 is definitely old, (especially as my Mother and Grandmother are long dead.)   I am now, officially OLD.   Yet, I just don't feel old.  I often think about lessons I might learn in future years; about courses I might take; places I want to see; people I plan to visit.

Now, when it would be good for the years to slow down, they are galloping along.  One Christmas rolls seamlessly into the next.   PHOOEY.

  1. Me—I never age—I am just me. It's just my body and those around me that seem to get older.
Happy birthday for your 68th. I can assure you that 70 is NOT old.

  2. Richard, I agree with you that 70 is NOT old, but take a random survey and I'm sure you'll find that most people think it is!!!
I would like to abolish this kind of thinking. I don't want a category called "old age". Maybe we could be Mature, Mature+, Mature++, Mature+++ etc.

You ------- correct, you'll never age!!!
